poetryMONDAY: Hearts Like Hearthstones
Once caught, my love is a lasting ember.
It could bake bread all night and still
heat the morning bathwater.
Yet you keep asking for a visible flame.
It’s that kind of attitude that gets a man burnt --
if he’s the inflammable kind, it’s best to know.
But there should be a better way to
find men with hearts like hearth-stones
than setting them alight.

LMAO! What a great poem Emily!
"if he’s the inflammable kind, it’s best to know." ain't that the dying truth.

I wasn't sure why Rhian told me you and I were making her spit her BLT in laughter; now I get it.
Awesome poem!
Awesome poem!
Definitely. Or maybe life is the fire, and how he handles the sparks tells whether he is a hearth-stone or merely tinder?
Great poem.
P.S. This didn't take the first time I tried, hope it takes now.

Love that! I like the length of the poem and the three stanzas - feels like a three-act story.
