The air is stone to hold my hand in place,
for you are mine in everything but this:
to take you into my unchaste embrace,
to steal your breath within a cherished kiss,
to sooth you when your life’s too bright a spark,
to hold your hand, to use your given name,
to rouse you when you languish in the dark…
Who dares to call these thoughts of mine profane,
But I? Who gives and spends my life for you,
Yet knows that these are things I cannot do.

Strong beginning:
"The air is stone to hold my hand in place"
I love the image that sets up. The desire to act, yet encased by reality. Very nice.

ahh Emily. This one hurts my heart.
and this brings a tear bubbling forth:
"Who gives and spends my life for you, Yet knows that these are things I cannot do."
Life is so damn unfair sometimes and that's tragically and beautifully woven into your poem.

Why do we judge ourselves? Can we answer that?
Sad but beautiful work.

Ah, desire and reality. Like ugly sisters they bicker with each other, sometimes only to both loose.
Man, I was hoping for a happy ending here, Emily. The narrator gives so much and to not be able to... Ouch. That really hurts.
i really hate pop quizzes.
no clue what fandom but having reread it now five times i will say that it very much has a flavor of Poe and Annabellee.
